The protests in Brazil in 2013 were several popular demonstrations, initially organized to protest against increases in bus, train, and metro ticket prices in some Brazilian cities, but grew to include other issues such as the high corruption in the government and police brutality used against some demonstrators. Initially restricted to a few thousand participants, acts of reducing public transport passages gained widespread popular support in mid-June, especially after heavy police crackdown on demonstrators Since 2016, demonstrators have returned to the streets against the impeachment of President Dilma, #EleNão (#NotHim) and recently against the education cuts in the Bolsonaro government.
